Thousands Lost Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Around 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events impacted the region, producing strong winds reaching 109km/h.
Large Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Locals witnessed giant hailstones as large as seven centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were attempting to repair power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Simultaneously, approximately one thousand households in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services handled over five hundred emergency reports across the state, mainly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

- Wyndham area - nearly 180 emergency requests
At the height on the previous day, over twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both areas.
Health Warning
Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after past events where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the area.
